1977 said hello to Jimmy Carter and goodbye to the king of rock and roll.

And what made him king? Most likely the unforgettable concert “Aloha from Hawaii.” Not just because it was streamed live via satellite, (which for 1973 was a hell of a feat), but also because we got to see the famous jumpsuit.

It’s an image of Elvis that everyone knows. And we mean everyone. If somebody hasn’t heard of Elvis Presley, then they’ve been living under a rock. Everyone recognizes the white bedazzled suit, teamed with the Hawaiian lei, pelvis thrusts and the black quiff, which was actually dyed. Yes, Elvis was actually blond. In fact his biggest hit “Jailhouse Rock” was released in 1957 when he was only 22 years old – that was 60 years ago!
